Giving birth shouldn’t induce fear. Women and birthing people have the right to feel empowered, knowledgeable and prepared to birth their baby in an environment that supports and nurtures them. In my years of working as a midwife I’ve seen too many women afraid of what might happen to them during their labour. They are afraid of the pain and they don’t believe in themselves. They also don’t know what to expect or have a good understanding of what happens during labour. I’ve seen women who feel out of control and the impact of that can be so negative.
I want to help women and birthing people to approach their labour and birth with a calm confidence, felling sure of themselves and their ability to bring their baby into the world gently. I want them to know and trust their bodies and believe that they have the tools and the power to have the labour and birth they really want.
